Fall Outfit Ideas

Fall is one of my favorite times of the year! The leaves change colors, the weather is starting to cool off and school is starting. Not going to lie, my favorite part of fall is back to school shopping. Who doesn't love new clothes? So I put together some fun fall outfits using some of my favorite pieces from our shop.

This first outfit is using one of my favorite new dresses from our shop "Elora's Garden Dress". I love this dress! The fabric is thick with some stretch to it making it super comfortable and the thick fabric helps to not show lines. I love the fun pink and navy floral print. I added a simple gold necklace and a Alex and Ani Inspired bracelet. Then for the shoes I added some cute hot pink heels. You could also pair it with some cute brown heels or even some boots to make it look more fallish.

This next outfit is using our cute "Black Lace Dress". Every girl needs a little black dress right? This dress has lace on the bottom making it look classy. I paired it with our "Golden Tassel Necklace" and some cute leopard heels making it a little more sassy. If you aren't feeling the animal print or just want a more classy look I would pair it with some cute black heels.

A Perfect Peach Summer

Summer is here and in many people’s minds it is synonymous with vacation. With that said, we have found the perfect piece for your summer vacation wardrobe. It dresses up and down, it’s cool and comfortable to wear, takes minimum space in your suitcase, is virtually wrinkle free, and sure to be your favorite go-to. I Shop Simply is calling it the “Perfect Peach Skirt”. We have paired it down into a more casual, comfy look with a cute jean jacket that we found at H&M, a basic white tank, also from H&M, these fun cowboy boots from onlineshoes.com and finally I Shop Simply’s turquoise and gold layering necklace.

For those of you in need of something a little dressier we have, once again, chosen I Shop Simply’s Perfect Peach Skirt. This time we have paired it with Nordstrom’s simple cream silk blouse, some fun strappy gold sandals also from Nordstrom, and accessorized with I Shop Simply’s drop of sparkle earrings and pretty stackables.

Gift Ideas for Mothers Day

With Mother’s Day less than two weeks away, it’s time to go shopping! We have put together a couple of great gift ideas for the mom in your life.

The first look is one of I Shop Simply’s A-line skirts. It’s reminiscent of something you might find Audrey Hepburn wearing in the 50’s or 60’s. The great thing about this skirt is that it gently skims over the hips to just below the knee; making it one of the most figure flattering gems to have in your closet.  The jersey knit, with elastic waist band takes this classic look one step further and turns it into one of the most comfortable things you’ll own. We have paired this with this fun hot pink cardigan we found at Ann Taylor. We love this cardigan as it will mix and match with so many other things in your closet, creating several different looks Did we mention that it’s 100% cotton?! That stands for breathability baby!  We have paired this with I Shop Simply’s black starburst statement necklace, a white cami we found at JcPenney, and finally these pink Steve Madden ankle strap sandals we found at Nordstrom.

The second look is a good one for a casual lunch out with the girls. We start with I Shop Simply’s favorite new item the blue and green kimono.  We love this item as it not only slims the back side, giving an instant visual weight loss, but also trims the thighs and hips with the transitional diagonal line as it goes from high to low. We have paired this with our model’s favorite skinny jeans (you all have some in your closet), a simple white tee, and some fun wedge sandals. We found these wedge, sling backs at Kohls and love them! The jewelry is I Shop Simply’s swaying leaves necklace, paired with our mother and daughter charm bracelets.  Remember when wearing the bracelets to add a few of your own as well. This season it is all about the arm party, so the more the merrier!
P.S. If all else fails with your Mother’s Day shopping try chocolate :)

Easter Fun

It is that time of year again when women everywhere go shopping for the perfect Easter ensemble whether it is a fun Dress for church or a cute pant outfit for the big Easter egg hunt. We in Western Culture have been following this tradition for centuries, but why? And where did this all start?

Surprisingly the tradition of getting a new outfit and decking oneself out did not originate in the U.S. or even Europe for that matter. It started way back in ancient times when pagan worshipers wore new clothes as they celebrated spring during a festival to honor Ostera, the goddess of spring. They believed new clothes would bring them good luck.  The Chinese wore new clothes to convey the idea of plenty at their Spring Festival.

In the early days of Christianity, a newly baptized Christian wore white to symbolize the rebirth he/she received at baptism. Later in 300 A.D. the Roman emperor Constantine made an official decree that his court must wear the finest of new clothing on Easter. How awesome would it be to tell your husband, “I need the credit card. The emperor requires me to have a new dress on Easter, and not just any new dress, but the finest – I’ll be at Nordstrom.”

There are even superstitions that revolve around the importance of new Easter clothes. During the Tudor reign, in the 16th century it was believed that if a person did not wear new clothes on Easter, moths would eat their old ones and evil black crows would make nests around their houses.

In the United States we did not celebrate Easter with new clothes until after the Civil War. Prior to that time the Puritan and Protestant churches put a damper on all religious celebration. Thankfully, after the war Easter was seen as a sign of hope and new beginnings and Easter was celebrated with new clothes once again – yea! and continues on today – double yea!.  After all there is not a whole lot better than new clothes and a basket full of chocolate eggs!

That said, check out a few of our Easter picks for 2015.

We like this Dana Buchman knot-front dress from Kohls. The style is super flattering to most body types. We would suggest pairing this up with our black starburst statement necklace, after all nothing says spring like flowers. With so much arm showing our stackable pretties are another great option. Pair all of this with these great Women's Kailey Ankle Strap Pump found at Payless Shoes.

If you are more into separates then check this skirt from Kohl’s. It is part of a new collection called Disney’s Cinderella by Lauren Conrad – how fun is this! We would pair this with a simple white top or cardigan – you know the one everyone already has in their closet. How about these Steve Madden pumps from Macy’s to give you that glass slipper/Cinderella look. Finish your outfit off with I Shop Simply’s delicate mint necklace or maybe our bohemian floral statement necklace, or even our multi-strand twisted pearl necklace/earring set – so many options!

How about a fun outfit for the big Easter egg hunt? We like these ¾ length twill pants from H&M and paired with this fun ikat patterned shirt from Banana Republic and this Michael Kors bag from Macy’s. Don’t forget to add I Shop Simply’s fun perfect peach statement necklace or some of our layering necklaces and a bodacious bow bracelet to finish it off.

What’s new and hot in jewelry for spring? Layering, Layering, Layering!

From the runways of Europe to New York, and on the wrists and necks of Celebrities everywhere we see jewelry layering.  For the wrist the rule is simple – there is no rule!  You can layer several bracelets of one metal on your arm, or do a mixed metal combo.  If you are really brave pull out bracelets of all kinds of different materials to stack up your arm.  The idea here is once you think you have enough bracelets on your arm, add two more.  Many designers are calling this fun new trend an “arm party.”  But don’t stop at the wrist; throw several necklaces around your neck as well.  Make sure with your neck party that you vary the lengths of the individual necklaces so that all your “pretties” show.  At http://ishopsimply.com we have several necklaces that will help in your layering, including our latest the “double bar”, but don’t forget the “lariat” which also works well. For the wrist we make it really easy with our “stackable pretties.” Have fun combining what we have with what you already own to give your outfits a fun, unique look for spring.
